Canadian women will not medal in the long track speed skating team pursuit, while the men will be going for gold.
The men advanced to the gold medal race afterskating past Norway in the semis with an Olympic record time of threeminutes 42.22 seconds.
Denny Morrison of Fort St. John, B.C., LucasMakowsky of Regina and Mathieu Giroux of Montreal will skate for goldin Saturday's final against the Americans, who upset the Netherlands by0.40 seconds in the other semifinal.
Earlier, the men posted their first Olympicrecord of the day, skating to a 3:42.38 finish that easily knocked offItaly in the quarterfinals.
On the women's side, Kristina Groves of Ottawa,Christine Nesbitt of London, Ont., and Brittany Schussler of Winnipegposted a time of three minutes 2.24 seconds to finish 0.04 seconds backof the Americans in the quarterfinals.
